Enclosure ready first
Build and test the enclosure before collection or delivery. Check closures, ventilation, substrate, retreat, water access and fall height.
Equipment
Keep a catch cup and long tools beside the collection. Buy feeder insects in a size suitable for the spider you are actually getting, not the eventual adult.
Arrival
Move the spider into the prepared enclosure, provide water and give it time to settle. A new arrival may hide or refuse food for a while.
