Enclosure and maintenance
Adults reach about 11–13 cm (4.25–5 in). Ceratogyrus brachycephalus is a fossorial species, so the enclosure should prioritise deep, compactable substrate, a secure starter burrow and enough depth for the spider to stay underground.
With Ceratogyrus brachycephalus, plan routine maintenance so your hands do not need to share the spider's space. Keep a catch cup and long tools ready before opening the enclosure.
Growth, feeding and moulting
Growth is fast. Feed to the spider's size, appetite and abdomen rather than forcing a rigid weekly schedule; the routine will change as Ceratogyrus brachycephalus grows.
If Ceratogyrus brachycephalus refuses food and shows premoult signs, remove live prey, keep water available and leave it alone. There is no need to make a spider in normal premoult eat.
Lifespan and buying one
Rhino Horned Baboon females often live 8–12 years; males live roughly 2–4 years. An unsexed youngster can therefore become either a relatively short or a much longer commitment.
If a seller lists Rhino Horned Baboon as male or female, ask how that was confirmed. Also ask for an actual size in centimetres; sling, juvenile and sub-adult are too loose to plan the next enclosure around.
