Best Display Tarantulas

The best display species are the ones that remain visible, web or excavate attractively and can be housed in a way that lets normal behaviour be seen safely.

Examples

  • Green Bottle Blue — heavy webbing and often visible
  • Chaco Golden Knee — large terrestrial display species
  • Antilles Pinktoe — arboreal webbing and colour
  • Visibility still varies by individual and life stage

Compare the husbandry

Use the list as a starting point, then compare adult size, lifestyle, growth, speed, temperament, defensive tools, visibility and female lifespan. Those differences matter more than ranking.

Plan for the adult

A small sling can hide the scale of the adult job. Check the eventual enclosure shape, substrate, watering and rehousing requirements now.

UK availability

Availability in the UK can change from one specialist stock list to the next. Check the scientific name and current size rather than relying on an old availability label.

Mistakes to avoid

Assuming arboreal means visible, destroying webbing for appearance and choosing only by adult colour.
